2M had a great time with their Poet on Friday.
2M have been working with Dave the poet again today.
Dave started by sharing Isaac’s stories about Garston. He talked about what he likes about Garston and what he thinks it will be like in the future.
Dave has written up the poem the children created in their group last week. They read it out altogether.
Dave has been telling the children about salt being transported in Garston. The children came up with a list of all the things that we use salt for, where it comes from and why it is important for us. These ideas will form their writing.
The children were given pictures of the old Garston Salt Works which opened in 1798. They discussed what they could see and described what it looked like.
The children looked at a picture of the old Salt Works. They discussed how the salt was transported into the works.
This afternoon the children have been working with Dave to write about what it might have been like to work in the Salt Mines or the Salt Works.
Dave is now taking the ideas from all of the children’s writing and putting it together to create a whole class piece of writing.
More fantastic writing from the children who are thinking about life in a Salt Mine.
